Yuvalok has welcomed volunteers from UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany and United States over the past decade. We have a good amount of experience of what it takes for both volunteer and the school children to benefit from the programme. Our experience demonstrates that it is desirable for placements to be at least 3 months and we welcome volunteers for up to twelve months. We have had successful volunteer partnerships with all age ranges – most commonly 18-25 but we have great success with experienced senior volunteers who have teaching or vocational experience, maybe retired or “on a career break”.
Yuvalok welcomes volunteer applications from individuals with skills in the following areas:
Music – the children at Yuvalok school would benefit from a musical programme and have in the past participated in choral events. If you have musical talents and have an interest in teaching children from ages 6 to 16 or organising musical programmes over a minimum of three months, please contact us.
Communications & Media – Yuvalok always needs extra skills to help us in our communications with our supporters and friends around the world. If you have excellent skills in area of written communication in English, and/or you have talents in creation and use of websites, blogs, video etc which can be applied to enhance the connections between our work in Bangalore and our friends in USA, Europe & Australia, we’d like to hear from you.
Sports – Yuvalok runs extra-curricular sports programme for our children and we are looking to enhance this in 2011. If you have a heart for teaching and sports, and you can bring energy, enthusiasm and a can do attitude to the table, please consider spending some time being blessed by working with the children of Yuvalok please contact us.
Carpentry & other manual skills – Yuvalok runs a parallel programme in manual skills including tailoring and carpentry to empower some of our young adults with employment skills. We welcome senior volunteers who have teachable skills to discuss with us the potential to support such a programme on a voluntary basis. Please contact us.
